When you register a domain name, you are asked to provide a valid address, email and telephone number in accordance with the policy adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This information, however, is not kept only by the domain registrar, but is accessible to the general public on WHOIS lookup web sites as well, so anybody can view your info and a lot of individuals may not be satisfied with that fact. As a consequence, plenty of registrar companies have come up with the so-called ID Protection service, which conceals the domain registrant’s contact information and upon a WHOIS lookup, people will view the details of the domain registrar, not those of the domain owner. This service is also called WHOIS Protection or Privacy Protection, but all these terms refer to the same service. Now, most of the top-level domain names around the world allow ID Protection to be activated, but there are still country-specific extensions that don’t support the service.

ID Protection in Website Hosting

You can quickly activate ID Protection for any domain that you’ve registered through our company if you’ve got a website hosting account with us. This can be done through the exact same Hepsia Control Panel, via which you manage the web hosting account itself, so you will not need to use different systems. In the exact same section where all your active domain names will be displayed, there will be an “ID Protect” icon for each and every domain whose extension supports this service. The status of this icon will quickly let you know whether the ID Protection service is activated for a certain domain or not and by clicking that icon you can activate the service if you haven’t done so upon signup. Furthermore, you will also be able to renew or to disable the ID Protection service for any domain name using the very same icon and the change will take effect instantly.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can enable our ID Protection service without difficulty. This requires just a couple of mouse clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, through which you administer everything related to your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you will find an “ID Protect” icon, using which you can activate, renew or deactivate the ID Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-specific domain extensions that are ID Protection-eligible and you will be able to see this in advance, so you won’t end up buying a service that we can’t provide.
