Every single registered domain name has no less than two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain address to the servers of a particular hosting company. This way, you have both your site and your emails handled by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are lots of other records, such as A and MX. The first one shows which server deals with the website for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, whenever you enter a domain address in your web browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain uses and from there you could be sent to the servers of another provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means you could have your website and your e-mails with 2 different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Website Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, that comes with each and every website hosting package that we provide, allows you to see, change and set up A and MX records for each domain or subdomain inside your account. From the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update will not take you more than a couple of clicks. Creating new records is equally simple if, as an illustration, you want to use the email services of a different company and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two. You can even set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Using our sophisticated tool, you will be able to manage the records of your domains and subdomains with ease even if you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for each of your domain names or subdomains is extremely easy if you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan from us. The accounts are maintained through our in-house built Hepsia CP, which features a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you may click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as simple as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you will not experience any troubles if you decide to direct your site or e-mails to a different service provider while keeping the second service with our company. When necessary, you could also create additional MX records and set a certain priority based on the recommendations of the new provider.
